Disc Prolapse
Ayurveda categorizes Slip disc as one of diseases caused by vitiated Vata (one of the principle dosha in the body, responsible for the movement and functionality of the body). Treatment in Ayurveda is aimed at restoring the equilibrium through correction of the underlying functional inequilibrium. Ayurvedic treatments for Slip disc concentrate on bringing back the aggravated vata to the state of equilibrium and thereby to the state of health.
The therapies like Abyanga swedam, Pathrapotala swedam, Choornapinda swedam, Pizhichil, Shirodhara, Kadeevasthy, Greevavasthy, Navarakizhi, Vasti etc. are done as per the necessity and condition. These therapies are directed towards relieving the inflammatory changes,releasing the spasms and nerve compressions in the affected area, strengthening the supportive tissues holding the spine, nourishing the joints and improving the circulation.


Spondylosis
Ayurveda treatment protocol is primarily focused on normalizing the vitiated and obstructed vata, tone up the muscle, reduce the inflammation and to rejuvenate the effected tissue. Arthritis
- Osteoarthritis: commonly correlated in Ayurveda to Sandhigata vata. Sandhigata vata(Osteoarthritis) is a degenerative condition caused by accumulation of vata(air) in joints. Ayurvedic therapies to reduce the inflammation, nourish and lubricate the joints are routinely employed.
- Gout: is diagnosed as Rakta vata in Ayurveda .It is caused by accumulation of impurities(vata and pitta) of blood into joints in the form of uric acid crystals causing damage to joints. Rakta vata mostly starts afflicting the smaller joints like thumbs and toes first gradually moving to bigger joints. Ayurvedic therapies are basically employed to detoxify the blood, reduce the inflammation and joints and nourish the joints.
- Rheumatoid Arthritis: resembles Aamavata in Ayurveda. Aamavata (Rheumatoid arthritis) in Ayurveda is believed to be caused by prolonged accumulation of undigested food (aam) in the blood resulting in blockages in the channels of vata near the joints hence vata is accumulated in joints. Treatment is aimed at helping digest the Aam and pacifying the vata. Initially blockages in the path of vata is relieved followed by the lubricating and strengthening the joint.


Paralysis
Ayurveda terms paralysis as pakshavada, a disorder caused by the vitiation of vata dosha. Ayurvedic treatments for paralysis will aim to rectify the vitiated vata dosha. In the Ayurveda system of medicine vata is responsible for the proper coordination of all voluntary movements in the human body. A constraint in the proper movement of vata can cause paralysis. Exercises will be prescribed in addition to purification and nourishing therapies like vasti, abhyangam, kizhi, sirodhara, thalam, njavara kizhi etc. to bring the patient back to normalcy after the removal of toxins

Frozen shoulder most commonly affects people between the ages of 40 and 60, and occurs in women more often than men.
The causes of frozen shoulders are not fully understood. There is no clear connection to arm dominance or occupation
Frozen shoulders occur much more often in people with diabetes. Some additional medical problems associated with frozen shoulder include hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Parkinson’s disease and cardiac disease. It can develop after a shoulder has been immobilized for a period of time due to surgery, a fracture, or other injury.
Ayurveda is an excellent choice for addressing the pain and stiffness associated with Frozen Shoulder. Abhyanga, Pizichil, Kizhi and Pichu are the most useful therapeutic methods.
